This past Saturday was one of the most beautiful weddings I’ve seen. Kristina is Filipino, and brought some of the most touching, meaningful traditions into her ceremony. I had chills. Their “sponsors” (another tradition) were special friends and family members who had honors at the ceremony. One set draped a veil over both Kristina and Chris, another draped a cord around both of them to really connect the couple. It was beautiful. But my favorite, and top “goosebump” moment was when the couple walked toward their bridal party and family to kiss them. The last person Kristina visited was her Mom. She took her Mom’s hand, and raised it to her own forehead. This is a sign of ultimate respect and honor in this culture. I had chills. And, I came to find out later, this was unexpected to her Mom. It must have melted her heart.
Then we moved on to our fabulous Aquarium. We just love it there. This time, we got a special treat. Anne Morgan with Wolfgang Puck Catering took the bride and groom (and us, too!) into the Aquarium to get shots in various places around the venue. We were thrilled. We were at the big Coral Reef, the Huge Ocean Voyager Tunnel, it was unreal.
The party was just so lovely. The food was phenomenal, and the family INSISTED that we eat and try all they had for their guests. (I know Ric’s fave was the dessert table!) The band was Limelight and they were fantastic!! We got to work with wedding planner Felissa Covin which is always a joy for us. She kept things on the ball, and moving on schedule!
Overall, my highlight was definitely the ceremony and Kristina’s gesture of adoration to her Mom. And, this is another couple that we know will grow old together, and take their children and even grandchildren on many visits to the place where they were married!
