It is always extra special for us to shoot a Bar Mitzvah that is at our own synagogue. It is the place where we’ve had many special family times, including our daughter’s baby naming in 2004. We were so thrilled to photograph Jonathan and his family at Temple Beth Tikvah and then to work with them at the party at Roswell Mill.

Jonathan is really a big Lacrosse kid and his theme was all about his favorite sport. The decor was so cool (Denise from Let’s Celebrate) and each table was a different LAX focus with very cool decorations. Our pal Jamal from Vibe was fantastic (as always!) and the party was so much fun. Everyone had a blast–especially during their cool neon crazy glow-in-the-dark time. I’m not sure who had more fun, Jonathan or his adorable little brother who was also the life of the party!

We wish Jonathan’s family the best of everything! It was a great night, and we got to work with some of the nicest people and an awesome family. Mazel tov, Jonathan!

Sammi’s Bat Mitzvah

Wow! We shot such a fun event this weekend! Sammi is a phenomenal young artist, and her Bat Mitzvah was aptly named: Sammi’s ARTrageous Bat Mitzvah. Even her tallis was artistic and colorful. She did beautifully at her rehearsal at Temple Sinai, and we were not surprised to hear how great she did at the Bat Mitzvah. I wonder if she knows how lucky she is to have all her grandparents there with her–that is one of my favorite parts of the whole weekend!

The party at the Retreat at Dunwoody was visually so unique! The details that Sammi’s Mom and Sharon Fisher from It’s My Party, Inc. pulled together were so fun and colorful! The guests entered through these bright, fun balloons arches and were asked to sign a very cool painted chair for Sammi before they entered an archway of colorful ribbons to get into the party room. Every touch was colorful and fun, and Sammi’s artwork was displayed on easels and on a loop on the screen behind the DJ. So unique. She even designed the special heart design that was woven throughout the party. The candy bar at the end of the party was amazing. Sharon Fisher got the coolest tie dye lollipops, bright colored candy and my fave candy dots. Yum. Button It Up did the coolest airbrush sweatshirts, and it was all documented by our friends, Donna and Paul of Dewitt Smith Video.

It was a fun, energetic celebration–surrounded by color and art and lots of love and joy from Sammi’s friends and family. I am sure it is a weekend she will never forget.

Sammi, we wish you and your family Mazel Tov! Remember us when you are a famous artist one day… 🙂

Abigail’s Bat Mitzvah

A great night at the Westin Perimeter for Abigail’s Tiffany Blue extravaganza! It was a perfectly planned event (as per usual) by Sharon Fisher from It’s My Party, Inc. We had such a nice time with Abby’s family at Temple Beth Shalom during her photos. It was really fun to see her dote on her younger brother and sister–that was such a highlight for me.

The celebration at the Westin Perimeter was so beautiful and elegant, and so much fun. Barbara Roos and Chris Macksey from Event Design Group did the most gorgeous decor! Tiffany Blue and candles and silver and flowers everywhere. So beautiful! I loved the oversized “A’s” up in the front of the room, and the lighting was amazing.

Abby had a ball–she came in to the party ready to dance! Her entire family (including her great grandmother!) was also ready to dance. DJ Ralph kept the party going!

Button It Up had their green screen and also jewelry to be engraved for the kids. The Westin had an awesome dessert station with a chocolate fountain and fresh baked chocolate chip cookies and milk. YUM.

It was a great celebration for a really great girl. Abigail, Mazel Tov!

We’ve known Andrew’s parents for a long time, and it was such a joy to photograph this amazing celebration for them. Andrew did great during his rehearsal at The Temple, and we had such a great time with them. I loved that we did a photo of Andrew getting the Torah from his dad and grandfather…the same picture was taken of Andrew’s Dad at his Bar Mitzvah. (a couple of years ago…)

The party was fun at Maggiano’s! They had a fortune teller reading Tarot Cards and the Flippedy Doo Da booth was there. Keith from Horizon DJ was great, as usual. He played so many games with the kids and kept them entertained.

Thanks, Andrew for letting us share your day. Mazel tov to you and your awesome family!

Atlanta Jewish Film Festival

When our now almost 11 year old was a newborn, Ric and I were asked to co-chair the Young Adult event for the first ever Atlanta Jewish Film Festival. It was an honor and such a fun program to chair. We never imagined that it would grow to be the amazingly successful and HUGE film festival it is now, 11 years later. We were so thrilled to be their Opening Night photogs last year, and were so glad to be asked back again this year.

The event started at a small spot in the Alliance Theater…and now was being held in the Fox Theater! Wow. What a special night, and we were so proud to be involved.

A handful of highlights…
